Receiving...

At Sharing the Journey 2008, the seminar ended in a prayer of 'receiving'. Women were asked to extend their hands as a sign of receiving during the prayer time. Some may have a tough time doing that simple act as it is out of one's comfort zone. The point is not the position of one's praying hands, but the attitude of one's heart and mind. Many people have a tough time receiving as they either feel unworthy or the other extreme, don't feel they need God's touch. Women's Journey of Faith is committed to helping others see that they are loved and there is a BANQUET of gifts available to us through the countless promises of God.

"Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives; he who seeks finds; and to him who knocks, the door will be opened." Matthew 7:7-8

"You do not have, because you do not ask God. When you ask, you do not receive, because you ask with wrong motives, that you may spend what you get on your pleasures."
James 4:3

"If you, then, though you are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in heaven give good gifts to those who ask him!" Mathew 7:11

Let us be a people who has the faith to ask, who has the desire to receive, and when we do ask, have the right motives. (When in doubt, ask the Lord and share your prayers with others so they can discern with you if you are praying with right motives!)
