TW101 week 1 "Gender Matters"

Are you ready for a fun and engaging Sistah Study? Each week, we will be posting a lesson including the videos, discussion q's and snippets/ highlights from the study: True Woman 101: Divine Design, an 8 week study on Biblical Womanhood".

Mary Kassian will be joining us for our 14th annual conference on November 1-2. She is our first Canadian keynote speaker for WJOF's fall conference and we are thrilled to have her join our ministry team on the stage! She has written numerous books including co-authoring the study TW101 with Nancy Leigh De Moss.  As we post each lesson throughout the summer, you can simply watch the videos and look up scripture that is mentioned and ponder the discussion q's listed each week. Over the 8 weeks, some of the lessons will be quite basic for some, whereas others are profound truths that will shake your world! Perhaps some of you will be challenged by the approach to scripture and can experience some deep soul stirring healing as we dig into God's word together this summer. Many women are finding through this study, they are excited to embark on a quiet counter-culture revolution in claiming, reclaiming and standing in agreement with God's word on their identity in Christ and the divine design as a daughter of the Most High God!

 TW101 writes:
"Do differences between men and women really matter? We’re living in a world that generally says … no! But God has a very different perspective. After completing week one in your True Woman 101 book, watch this twenty-minute conversation between authors Nancy Leigh DeMoss, Mary Kassian, and their friends as they talk about just how important your womanhood is—and how much gender really does matter!"

To get the most of the study- we recommend you pick up the workbook at your local Christian bookstore or order it online.  Here's Mary, Nancy and the TW101 Panel as they discuss "Gender Matters":

Key scriptures highlighted in the workbook for week 1: Gender Matters: Genesis 1:26-27, Psalm 8:4-6. Colossians 3:10, Ephesians 4:24, Ephesians 5:23, 1 Corinthians 11:3, Ephesians 5:30-32, 1 Corinthians 2:7. Ephesians 1:4-6, Romans 1:19-20, Genesis 5:2, 1 Corinthians 15:45, 1 Corinthians 15:22,

*To go deeper into this topic, there is a 45 minute excellent teaching from Pastor John Piper on the ultimate meaning of womanhood. Here's the video link and the pdf of the outline!

**Additional videos and resources for Week 1 available on the TW101 site:)  including "Holly's Story", "Gender Assault on Kids",and "A Picture on Gender"... Whew! Good stuff:)

A note from Jodi: Although WJOF has been around as a ministry since our first event in 2000, the focus vision of "Restoration" became increasingly clear when impacted through a vision and key scriptures relating to our 'original intent'- including Genesis 1:27 (men and women created in God's image). The term "Gender Reconciliation" has been searing my soul and has literally awakened my mind and heart since 2006 that I've ached for more teaching that can clarify that clarion call. This study isn't perfect, only Christ is. What's most important is that we encounter Him personally through it and that He will lead us to all truth! Enough about me and my journey to this laser beam focus, we want to hear from YOU!  What's going on in your heart as you ponder the truths presented in this week's focus on "Gender Matters?" Interact with the WJOF team by leaving your comment below (as yourself or anonymous), or feel free to connect with us at the  WJOF Mentor Centre too to discuss this more in-depth! We will post each lesson by Wednesday of each week this summer. Blessings to you as you ponder this teaching and how it applies to your journey of faith. We'd love to hear from you!

Check back next week for "Snips and Snails" as we study God's design for manhood. The restoration of Women is not complete without the restoration of men!

This is a challenging topic for sure..Women have been fighting and working and aching for equality since the beginning of time- most women i know have been raised/ trained to be quite- no EXTREMELY independent... plus I can see how the feminist movement of the 70's played a huge role in defining womanhood in our culture which didn't necessarily turn out for the best.... In looking at the discussion q's, the 4th q stands out about differences and yet equal. I like what the panel said about the Trinity- God the Father, Jesus the Son and the Holy Spirit. Together they are "one", yet there is order and protocol. Looking forward to the rest of the study!

This is indeed a great eye opener for me. Having gone through the study, I have come to realize how blessed and loved I am. I am not an accident, my womanhood does matter to God and that God was very much intentional in creating me, woman! I am a MASTERPIECE! carefully designed by the ultimate DESIGNER! Created to display His glory and splendor. I am not a second class citizen because of my womanhood, rather, creation was incomplete without me, a woman!Gender indeed does MATTERS!

So far I'm loving the study! Being a woman has never left me feeling inferior to men - only inferior to other women. Trusting there is a word in here for me that will soothe that gash in my heart. I like how they point out that it's not about us - it's about God and His plan!

Yes, there will be answers to the 'twisted sister' issues so many women face towards the end of the study. It's one thing to understand God's design for us as women and men, it's quite another to support, bless and encourage other women without comparing or feeling inferior in any way! It's true, there are very few passages of scriptures that pertain to healthy women friendship/relationships. Jesus came to restore that too! The Church should be the first places we look to for lifelong friendships and beautiful mentorship opportunities, not the last:) Keep reading and watching the videos- there is a healing balm of a beautiful sisterhood truths awaiting through God's word in this study for sure:)
