Christmas Inspiration: Joy

Christmas, it's the most wonderful time of the year, full of beautiful decorations, scrumptious food, and giving.  Everyone seems to be be a little happier, it is the season of joy.

It is easy to be joyful when surrounded by beauty, delicious food, and the ones you love.  But, what happens when all the food is eaten, the decorations are put away and we go back to normal?

Happiness can be fleeting, it comes and goes depending upon our mood, and circumstances. Joy is not a fleeting emotion like happiness. It is simply not being an upbeat, bubbly person. True joy is something deeper, it is the working of the Holy Spirit within us. It comes from knowing Jesus and having an intimate relationship with Him. No matter what our circumstances when we know Jesus we can have true joy.  Joy is steady confidence in our Saviour Jesus Christ and it does not come and go like an emotion.

When the Angels appeared before the Shepherds they declared: “Don’t be afraid!” he said. “I bring you good news that will bring great joy to all people. The Savior—yes, the Messiah, the Lord—has been born today in Bethlehem, the city of David!" Luke 2:10-11

Our true source of joy is Jesus! He never changes, He never leaves us!

Enjoy this Christmas season and cherish the moments that bring a smile to your face. In all you do throughout the season and the new year to come, look to Jesus for He is our GREAT JOY!
